February 22, The Hague, The Netherlands -- New Skies Satellites (NSS), the global satellite operator offering video, voice and data distribution and Internet connectivity today announced the following appointments:
Daniel Goldberg, former General Counsel, is appointed as NSS' first Chief Operating Officer (COO);
Mary Dent is appointed as General Counsel;
Carl Wu, formerly Vice President at Loral CyberStar, will be joining NSS as Vice President of Internet Services; and
Elizabeth Hess is appointed Vice President of Corporate Communications.
“These appointments mark a significant milestone for New Skies,” said Robert Ross, Chief Executive Officer of NSS. “We spent our first year of operation, 1999, putting in place the people and infrastructure we needed to launch a successful business. With these now largely in place, I will be relinquishing the day-to-day operation of the company to Dan so that I can focus on our strategic direction.
“In addition, we have created an Internet Services Division, to be run by Carl Wu, reflecting New Skies’ commitment to expanding its emphasis and service offerings in this important and growing area,” Ross continued. “The new division will be based in Washington, D.C. to ensure that it benefits from proximity to one of the world’s hubs of Internet activity and to encourage close integration with NSS’ new mediaport in Manassas, Virginia, which is already providing a range of Internet services.”
