What is New Skies?
New Skies is one of only four fixed satellite communications companies with truly global satellite coverage, offering video, voice, data and Internet communications services to a range of telecommunications carriers, broadcasters, large corporations and Internet service providers around the world. We own and operate a global network of five satellites, accessible from virtually any point on the surface of the earth. In line with our growth strategy, we launched two satellites in 2002, NSS-7 and NSS-6, and have an additional satellite, NSS-8, under construction. We have also secured certain rights to make use of additional orbital positions. We also offer a full range of ground-based services through a worldwide network of owned or affiliated teleport facilities, providing throughput to terrestrial fiber optic networks, telephone systems and the Internet backbone.
How many staff are employed at New Skies?
Approximately 220.
What services does New Skies offer?

How many satellites does New Skies currently operate?
We currently operate a network of five communication satellites positioned in fixed geosynchronous orbits. These satellites orbit directly over the equator, approximately 22,300 miles (35,700 kilometers) above the earth.
What is the reliability of New Skies satellite fleet?
While some of our competitors have suffered in-orbit equipment failures, New Skies has been able to successfully mitigate these risks. For the year ended December 31, 2004 our availability rate was 99.9999% based on the total number of hours the transponders in our fleet were available for service, as compared to the total number of transponder hours during the year.
Who are some of New Skies' customers?
With our worldwide reputation for the high reliability of our satellites, our engineering excellence and our customer responsiveness, we continue to retain and increase the size of our customer base. Since our inception, we have continued to provide services to major telecommunications and broadcasting companies, such as British Telecommunications plc, Embratel and France Telecom. Our satellites are used for distribution of video programs by well-known broadcasters, including the BBC, HBO, ESPN and FOX, as well as other business users, such as Visa, Heineken and Shell. We have also expanded our customer base to include companies such as AT&T, the European Broadcasting Union (‘‘EBU’’) and Reliance Infocomm, as well as newer entrants to the telecommunications marketplace, particularly in markets undergoing deregulation, and in regions where strong GDP growth is driving new services or where there is a lack of ground-based infrastructure.
What is the breakdown of revenues by region and by service sector?
New Skies maintains a well-diversified portfolio of services and well-balanced geographic capabilities around the world which allows us to be flexible and responsive to changing market demands. For 2004, video accounted for 35% of our total revenues, transmission of data and telephony services for 47% and transmission of IP traffic for the remaining 18%. Geographically, North America accounted for 35% of total revenues, Europe 21%, India, the Middle East and Africa 22%, Latin America 13% and Asia Pacific 9%.
